The little community of Louisburgh in County Mayo has been recognised as an Area of Exceptional Natural Beauty and is situated along the Bunowen River. The town provides countless options to discover Ireland while being surrounded by gorgeous rural surroundings. With three Blue Flag beaches nearby—Bertra, Carramore, and Old Head—as well as the Sheaffrey and Mweelrea Mountains and the excellent surfing beach of Carrownisky, there is truly something for everyone. If it's a clear day, you might choose to take the ferry from Roonagh Pier to Clare Island, one of the inhabited islands in Clew Bay, where you can enjoy vistas of Achill and Connemara, or you might like to attend the more traditional Féile Chois Cuain, May Bank Holiday music festival. There is a lot to see and do in this beautiful place for people of all ages.
